Press Release:

National Assembly and fight against corruption

Organization Transparency Serbia emphasizes that current calling of National Assembly, at the very beginning, shows maybe the greatest weakneses from renewing of multy party system in Serbia. Before Parliament are burning issues, and time, as unrecovered resours, is spent in obstructions and time consuming delays of Assembly's work.

Among urgent tasks, which no one besides from National Assembly can deal with, is bringing of residual laws necessary for more efficient fight against corruption and improving of existing regulations from that area. Those tasks originate from National anticorruption strategy which Parliament adopted on December 2005, but on whose realization until now very little was done.

Transparency – Serbia considers that citizens of Serbia have full right to expect from it's representatives in Parliament much responsible approach in fulfilling of these tasks, considering that its members received votes by pleadging for efficient fight against corruption. Transparency – Serbia invites all political acters to fill out their election promises by treating matter of corruption in practice as a matter of national and not party interest.
