At this press conference we will present prepositions of Transparency Serbia to the Law on National Assembly. Currently existing draft Law on National Assembly proposed by group of deputies in 2007, wasn't discussed and parallel runs the process of creating new draft Law.

 

Amendments suggested by our organization are focused only to several aspects of work of National Assembly which are of the most importance from the position of fight against corruption. Amendments which we will present at the press conference are already delivered to parliamentary groups in the National Assembly.

 

First area to which we gave prepositions regarding reducing of damaging consequences of provision of article 102, para 2 of the Constitution, which opens the possibility for the deputies to irrevocably put their term of office at disposal to political party.

 

Other area to which we also gave prepositions has for goal to narrow immunity of deputies which by current Constitution is too widely defined.

 

Third area is publicity of work of National Assembly and deputies, which is the main obstacle to corruption. As part of this area we will present prepositions for securing publicity in two ways – by publishing of greater number of documents at internet presentation of Assembly and by obligating the deputies to elaborate their decisions.
